Additional Information

The Modicon 140AVI03000 is a Quantum Analog 8 Channel Bipolar Input Module that accepts a mix of current and voltage inputs. Jumpers are required between the input and sense terminals for current inputs. The 140AVI03000 has an absolute maxmimum input of 50V DC and 25 mA. The module has a Bus current requirement of 280 mA, and a power dissipation of 2.2 W.

The 140AVI03000 module has a total of 18 local signaling LEDs. These include 8 red for channel faults, 8 green for when the channel is turned on, 1 red for external faults, and 1 greeen for when bus communication is active. Channel faults (red LEDs) can occur when an indicated channel is out of range (voltage condition) or  if a broken wire condition is detected (amp condition).

The following figure shows the wiring diagram for the 140AVI03000.

* N/C = Not Connected.

The current and voltage sources are supplied by the user, and fusing can be done at the discretion of the user. Shielded signal cables must be used, and should have a shield tied to an earth ground near the signal source end. In order to prevent improper fault indicators, unused inputs should ahve the plus and minus inputs tied together and be configured for a bipolar input range. When field wiring the 140AVI03000, the max wire size should be 1-14 AWG or 2-16 AWG, and the minimum size that should be used is 20 AWG.
